"It is the variety of subjects and opportunities available to Arts students that helps me get the most out of my degree. I will be graduating from an internationally respected university and will also have gained immeasurable experience. I am confident that no matter where in the world I intend to use it, my Melbourne degree will be a great advantage." |
"The Master of Education enabled me to pick and choose subjects of personal interest and professional need to create a tailor-made program. I had the option to undertake my masters degree by coursework, by research or a combination of the two. The focus of the program is completely up to the student ? a genuinely flexible approach to graduate study that acknowledges my individuality." |

"The University of Melbourne was an obvious choice for me because of both the education and location. The landscape program is first-rate and gave me the skills and opportunity to pursue landscape architecture anywhere in the world, while Melbourne is a cosmopolitan, international city with a lot to offer." |
"I highly recommend the Melbourne Welcome Program " it's fun, you get to meet heaps of people and it?s a great way to find out about the city and how to get around. My orientation experience was also great and everything was really well organised so that I could find out everything I needed to know within the first day." |
Visas
Any student wishing to study at the University of Melbourne for more than three months must obtain a student visa. Students cannot travel to Australia as a tourist and expect to study, as this is considered to be a violation of a visitor visa. The processing time for an American or Canadian citizen to get a student visa to Australia is relatively straight-forward and short as it can be completed online.
If a student is staying for 12 months or longer, medical exams may be required. When students apply through the e-visa system, they will be notified via email if they need to supply x-rays or medical forms. If necessary, medical forms can be downloaded from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship and mailed to the appropriate Australian embassy or consulate for processing.
Students with citizenship from other countries (non-US/non-Canadian) may need to submit a paper-based application depending on their nationality and program of study. Students may also need to undergo a chest x-ray, medical exam, IELTS (English language proficiency) exam and pre-visa assessment, depending on their country assessment level. For additional information please contact the Australian Visa Information Services by calling 1-888-990-8888 (from North America) or consult the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) web site.
