What type of student am I?

Undergraduate student

You are an undergraduate student if you are undertaking a first course at university. At the University of Melbourne, courses defined as undergraduate include bachelor degrees, bachelor degrees (honours), some advanced diplomas and concurrent diplomas.

Graduate student

You are a graduate student if you are undertaking further study at a higher level than a bachelor degree. At the University of Melbourne, courses defined as graduate include: graduate certificate, graduate diploma, postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, masters, doctorate.

Australian student

You are an Australian student at the University of Melbourne if you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or the holder of a permanent Humanitarian Visa. If you hold the above you are an Australian student regardless of whether you also hold citizenship or residency rights for a country other than Australia.

International student

You are an International student at the University of Melbourne if you are not an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or are not an Australian permanent resident or holder of a permanent Humanitarian Visa.

Study Abroad student

You are a Study Abroad student if you are undertaking one or two semesters study away from your home institution and your home institution does not have a formal exchange agreement with the University of Melbourne.

Exchange student

You are an exchange student if you are undertaking one or two semesters study away from your home institution and your home institution has a formal exchange agreement with the University of Melbourne.
