International student tuition fees

International students pay tuition fees for study at the University of Melbourne. Each subject has a different fee, with prices varying for undergraduate and graduate subjects.

You pay tuition fees based on the particular subjects you choose to study. The amount you are charged is the sum of the fees for all subjects in which you enrol.

Subject fees are set within a fixed number of bands based on the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations discipline classification of the subject, with different prices charged for undergraduate, graduate and single subject study. The graduate rates also apply to any fee-paying research higher degree student.

It is compulsory for international students to take out Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) while studying in Australia on a student visa. OSHC Worldcare is the University's preferred OSHC provider. Details of costs can be obtained from their website.

Policy on payment of international student tuition fees

It is important that you read the University's policy relating to the payment of tuition fees before completing your administrative enrolment. Once you enrol, you will be bound by this fee policy and are agreeing to pay tuition fees for every year in which you are enrolled.

This policy applies to international students enrolled in a study abroad, undergraduate, graduate coursework or graduate research course (including Masters by Research, Doctoral and PhD candidates), or enrolled in single subject (Community Access Program) study.
