Graduate research fees
Local students
PhD and masters by research
Local students do not pay tuition fees for research study. (Local students are Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents.) These students are offered graduate research places under the Commonwealth Government's Research Training Scheme (RTS). Research Training Scheme places are Commonwealth supported with a HECS exemption for the normal duration of the course.
Professional doctorates
Places in Professional doctorates may be offered on an Research Training Scheme, Commonwealth supported or fee-paying basis, depending upon the course.
- Check Course Search for fee information. Search by keyword "doctor".
- Visit Faculty and Graduate School pages for more information on professional doctorates.
International students
International graduate research students are enrolled in fee places for all programs. Fees vary according to discipline and, for each year of study, the tuition fee for a full-time enrolment of 100 points (1 EFTSL) applies.
Notes on fees
Fees are based on the workload (EFTSL) you undertake in each semester. Research semesters differ from coursework semesters in that semester 1 is defined as 1 January to 30 June (six months) and semester 2 is defined as 1 July to 31 December (six months). You will be charged on a daily pro rata basis. If you enrol after a semester commencement date, your fees will be adjusted to take account of the number of days you will actually be enrolled.
