A Coursework Program is a subject based degree that focuses on timetabled classroom and lecture-based learning. Coursework studies range from Graduate Certificate and Diploma courses through to Masters courses and normally involve a set stream of core subjects and electives. Some coursework programs allow you to complete a research project or minor thesis.
The University of Melbourne offers both professional entry and professional development Masters programs. Professional entry programs lead to specific career outcomes. Professional development programs on the other hand are targeted to professionals interested in advancing their career opportunities.
A Graduate Research Degree allows students to study a specific subject area in great depth. Graduate Research Degrees involve sustained independent enquiry, carried out under the direction of a supervising academic. Qualifications include a PhD, Professional Doctorates, Master of Philosophy and Masters by research.
