2010 student contribution amounts for Commonwealth supported students (subject to confirmation)

This information relates only to students commencing a Commonwealth supported place in an undergraduate or graduate coursework degree in 2010*. This information should be read in conjunction with the Information for Commonwealth Supported Students 2010 booklet.

As a Commonwealth supported student your tuition costs are subsidised by the Australian Government. You will pay the contributions by subject in the disciplines and courses specified in the following table. The student contribution you pay is based on the individual subjects chosen, not on the overall course. These contributions do not necessarily represent a typical enrolment as you may choose subjects from a range of disciplines throughout your degree. The amount you are charged is the sum of the contributions for all subjects in which you enrol. Details of which discipline band relates to each subject can be found on the Subject Fee Calculator

^ 1 EFTSL (100 credit points) represents a standard annual full-time course load.

Example
Dylan is a first year, full-time student enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place in the Bachelor of Arts. He enrols in a total of 100 credit points, comprising eight subjects. One hundred credit points is equivalent to 1 EFTSL (equivalent full-time student load) at the University of Melbourne.

Each of Dylan?s subjects is worth 12.5 credit points or 0.125 EFTSL. The subjects he enrols in are across more than one discipline; six subjects in humanities, one subject in science and one in mathematics. His student contribution for 2009 is calculated as:
(6 x 0.125 x $5,310) + (1 x 0.125 x $4,249) + (1 x 0.125 x $4,249) = $5,045 (based on the figures above which are subject to confirmation)
