How to apply for an undergraduate course

Standard (February) entry

The normal method of application for undergraduate courses for both first and later-year entry to the University of Melbourne is through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Full details regarding the VTAC application process may be found on the VTAC website or by purchasing the VTAC Guide from a newsagent.

The exception to this is later year entry for Physiotherapy, Veterinary Science (non-school leavers) and entry into Social Work, Architecture (final two years), and Property and Construction. A direct application to the relevant faculty should be made for these courses.

When making an application, you will need to indicate the courses and the types of fee enrolments for which you wish to be considered. There are two fee type options – Commonwealth supported place and Australian fee place. See University of Melbourne tuition fees for more information regarding enrolment options.

If you have issues of long term disadvantage, you should also explore applying through the University's Special Entry Scheme, Access Melbourne.

Mid-year entry

In 2008 limited places are available for mid-year entry into select undergraduate courses. Australian undergraduate applicants should submit mid-year entry applications to the University's National Admissions Office.

For information about the availability of places in your preferred course refer to the mid-year entry page.
